Internet Therapy
Q.: What is internet therapy? A.: Similar to telephone counselling, internet therapy is another form of help. Through Kasamba.com people can contact me for live chat sessions or one-off email. There is also a weekly package with up to 5 emails each for ongoing therapy. People can do this directly through my email here at Therapy Works for a lesser fee (I don't have to pay the 30% commission then), but the live chat is not available.
Q. Why would someone want to use the internet for counselling or therapy? A.: It is very interesting to me to find so many people using the internet this way. I have had clients who live in very remote places with limited help available, people who simply wish to remain anonymous and want total privacy, people who are not comfortable going in person to talk, people who just want a quick one-off response to a question, etc.
Q. How does it work? A.: Once you register on Kasamba, you have a private email account there to send and receive messages. You set up your payments with them and have an account. If you just contact me directly here at Therapy Works, we can negotiate cheaper rates for the email therapy because on Kasamba, I pay them for commission. For live chat, I don't have the ability to do that independently so it must be done through Kasamba.
Q.: What are the costs? A.: For Live Chat on Kasamba, it is $1.35US per minute, but the initial minutes are free. For an email question, it is $10 US for simple questions, $20 US for more complex. For a week of up to 5 emails each, it is $50US. If we do the email through Therapy Works (kate@therapyworks.com), then it is $50 AU per week.
Q.: How do I make payments if I go directly to you through Therapy Works? A.: You can sign up for Paypal, an online banking service to make a Paypal payment to me (you can then use credit cards if you wish), or you can pay via direct deposit through your bank, send in a money order or check. The payments for internet counselling need to be made in advance.
